Here in this post, I am going to show the simplest way to create menus in your wordpress blog. I have got some messages asking to show how to create Navigation Menu tabs for the site.
It’s very simple. You can learn in 10 minutes. After going through the post, you will learn- how to create front Navigation menu, footer menu, custom link menu and how to use categories for your Menu.
First you need to login to your Dashboard using password. Scroll down to Appearance.
Click on Menus.
Then Create new Menu. You can name anything you want and save it. Now there are “add menu items” in the left box. All Pages, Posts and Categories will appear that you have created in the “add menu items”
In Menu settings you can select the display locations where do you want to appear the Menu. If you select Primary, your menu tabs will appear in the front top page.
You can rearrange the menu items by dragging up and down.
It’s very simple. You can also watch the tutorial video on how to create menu.
To display Amp Menu and Amp footer Menu, you need to install the Amp plugin for wordpress.
Once install and activate Amp menu and Amp footer will appear.
In custom link, you can add any title and link to any URL.
For instance, here I have name it “Home” and link to my homepage, since I am not using static page for my homepage. (There are two Homepage display options, Static page or Latest posts.)
First copy the URL from your browser and paste it in the Custom link URL. All of your blog posts will appear in the homepage.
To use Categories as Menu tab, you need to create categories for each post.
First go to your Dashboard, then Post, scroll down to categories.
Add new categories so that you can write many blog posts focusing on that categories.
Now go back to your Menu in Dashboard. All your categories will now appear in the Add menu items in categories section.
Now you can select the desired categories, add to your menu and save it.
If you have created these pages you can easily select the pages and add to your Footer Menu and save it. But here do not select the Display location.
Now you can go to the Widget tab in your Dashboard.
Select the Navigation Menu widget, add to your Footer (Footer one, Footer two or any) and save it.
Your Navigation menu will appear in the footer location.
Now edit your Footer and select your Footer menu and save it. You can watch the video below how you can create Footer menu
